As part of the California Department of Community Services and Development’s Low Income Weatherization Program (LIWP). This program is designed to assist eligible low-income households manage energy efficiency and help reduce Green House Gas in California’s Central Valley.
The Low-Income Weatherization Program is part of California Climate Investments, a statewide program that puts billions of Cap-and-Trade dollars to work reducing GHG emissions, strengthening the economy, and improving public health and the environment – particularly in disadvantaged communities. The Cap-and-Trade program also creates a financial incentive for industries to invest in clean technologies and develop innovative ways to reduce pollution. California Climate Investments projects include affordable housing, renewable energy, public transportation, zero-emission vehicles, environmental restoration, more sustainable agriculture, recycling, and much more. At least 35 percent of these investments are located within and benefiting residents of disadvantaged communities, low-income communities, and low-income households across California. Dwelling Eligibility Guidelines: Under the umbrella of the California Environmental Protection Agency (CalEPA) the Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) created a tool used to identify communities that are most impacted by and sensitive to pollution. This tool is known as CalEnviroScreen 2.0 Map. Household with a CalEnviroScreen Score of 76% or higher are eligible to receive assistance under LIWP. A certified Energy Inspector will conduct a thorough inspection to assess the needs of the home. The Inspector will then design, within the programs constrains, a customized set of conservation measures. The Department will make the needed improvements, at no cost to you.
