Network for a Healthy California – Children’s Power Play! Campaign Children’s Power Play! Campaign motivates 9- to 11-year-old children to eat the recommended amount of fruits and vegetables and be physically active. The materials are research-based, educator-friendly, and appealing to children. Power Play Awards and Recognitions: A review conducted in 2006 and published in Preventive Medicine: An International Journal Devoted to Practice and Theory identified the Children’s Power Play! Campaign as one of the top ten programs worldwide to show significant results for fruit and vegetable consumption among children. The Campaign was one of three 2005 finalists to receive a Leadership, Innovation, and Nutrition Collaboration Award from the USDA Food and Nutrition Service for Excellence in Practice. In 2004, the Campaign was awarded a gold rating through the Children’s Healthy Bodies Initiative, which worked to identify programs with the greatest potential to impact childhood obesity.

Power Partners: Be a Champion for Change. Become a Power Partner! As a Power Partner, your school will receive additional support to help your kids power up with fruits and veggies! Together we can make nutrition and physical activity fun by celebrating these events:

Kid Healthy: Steps to Healthy Living: ABC7 launched the Kid Healthy—Steps to Healthy Living campaign in 2003. It has grown into a unique partnership between the Network for a Healthy California–Children’s Power Play! Campaign, as well as county healthcare agencies, non-profit organizations, for profit companies, volunteers, teachers, students, schools, parents and sponsors. Kaiser Permanente has partnered with kid healthy for the last five years. Their partnership has allowed the program to grow and reach over 300,000 students since 2003. The partnerships with Albertsons, Cal Optima, Macys* and other sponsors have enriched the program. Would you like to be a part of this statewide movement? The Power Play!
