Community Action Partnership of Orange County hold a wide variety of charity events as well as Volunteer Days to help the community. Below you will find some of our more recent events:

CPP gives computers to the needy at Topaz Elementary school

Our Community Technology Partnership gives a minimum of four complete computers a month to the clients of the
Social Worker’s in the Community Partners Program. The computer’s generally go to families with several children,
but sometimes it’s to the victim of domestic violence who has returned to school to get a better job and life for their families, or one with disabilities, also with hope of improving their future. How good is that to help people make their lives better. We also do distributions to Orange County schools who qualify for the program. You who are reading this help us to do these good works.

Community Partners Program gives Social Workers training to help others

We did two Social Worker Trainings during February and we have scheduled another for March in our Lampson Conference Room. What we discovered is, that some of the members are just a little shy when it comes to asking for items from their matched organizations. They are far more comfortable being on the giving end, helping their clients to get furniture, diapers, school items, household items, rent assistance, job interview clothes and clothes for the children. When you are used to being in the other seat, it can be very awkward to ask someone that you don’t see or communicate with very often, to provide some of the above mentioned items. This is the reason for the trainings, to provide a comfortable environment among their peers, to do role playing and practice in approaching their match. Also, how to re-activate a relationship that has fallen by the way side, due to time needed on their caseloads. The match on the other hand is eager to give whatever they can and are just waiting for the call. We had such an enthusiastic response as we anticipated only one session, that plans are in the works to include trainings into every quarterly meeting, at each district office. Members and Matches have come into this program to make a difference in the lives of those in need and our goal to assist them in their quest.

Yamaha USA and CAPOC raises $5000 for "Feed the Children" charities

Yamaha Motor Corporation, U.S.A. recently presented world-renowned charity Feed the Children with a check for $5,000 with support from the STAR Touring and Riding group and Yamaha employees.

Yamaha has worked with Feed the Children for over 10 years, raising several hundred thousand dollars and feeding tens of thousands of children.  Feed the Children is an international and nonprofit relief organization that delivers food, medicine, clothing and other necessities to individuals, children and families who lack those essentials.

Yamaha employees at the Cypress headquarters raised the $5,000 during the year through office-wide fundraisers and filled a Feed the Children food truck with 400 boxes of food, juice, chips and personal items.  After the check presentation ceremony by Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. President Masato Adachi, 60 members of the Star Motorcycles Touring and Riding Association were led by Police escort to deliver the goods via motorcycle. Working with the Community Action Partnership of Orange County and Calvary Chapel West Grove, the items were distributed to 400 local families in need.

"We are proud to support a meaningful and worthwhile organization like Feed the Children," said Bob Starr, General Manager of Corporate Communications for Yamaha Motor Corp., U.S.A. "Our Star riders are proud to personally contribute to such a worthy cause. Yamaha looks forward to continuing our support for many years to come.”

There are more than 200,000 children in low income families in Orange County with little to eat.  We give the poor students a chance to succeed in school by distributing food to them.  Everyone's sense of humor makes these events more fun.

Taking a Swing at Poverty and Hunger

Community Action Partnership of Orange County has teamed up with various companiessuch as Wells Fargo Mortgage company and community groups to hold annual Golf Tounaments for charity. The donations received from holding these events have greatly taken a Swing at Poverty and Hunger.

Each month the Orange County Food Bank distributes over 22,000 food boxes directly to low income seniors, infants and pregnant women. This award winning Food Bank distributes nearly 17 million pounds of food a year with the help of thousands of dedicated volunteers. Money raised from these charity Golf Tournaments will enable Community Action Partnership to solicit and distribute more food for our much needed community.
